This Diagnostic Imaging renovation project consisted of seven phases that stretched over a period of two years. The electrical work included demolition and upgrade of services, lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, security, communications and nurse-call.
One of the key challenges was to main services and operation within the project area and adjacent areas throughout the entire construction period. This was achieved through the creation of a decanting space in which phased construction areas would be relocated and temporary services provided to allow continue operation and functionality of hospital services in the area under renovation.
This sequencing was repeated in each of the seven phases. A subsequent challenge associated with this proposed schedule sequencing was that once a phase area had been temporarily relocated, services to the construction area were needed to be upgrading or relocated through adjacent areas that were operational and not part of the hoarded off phased construction area. This required coordination with Hospital engineering, maintenance and security staff to work in these areas that operational.
