This beautiful Thermea Spa being build on the Old Cullen Gardens property in Whitby is the latest project by Groupe Nordik. This is their third spa, already having facilities in Quebec and Alberta. These spa are packed full of things to do, including relaxation, massage and treatment rooms, eight saunas, steam baths, waterfalls, seven outdoor pools for thermotherapy, cold baths, an Epsom salt flotation pool, heated walkways, and the latest in building and landscape lighting. The site extends over a 385,423 sq. ft. area and will be able to host up to 700 people. The property has two very distinctive restaurants to accommodate you when you need a snack.
Groupe Nordik is paying special attention to water quality management systems and energy usage. Both will be analyzed to reduce the spa’s ecological and energy footprint. It will be the pinnacle of perfect harmony between nature, technology, and relaxation. This project is mass timber. So, everything had to be planned in advance. There would be no second chance when drilling into beams. Waterfalls and pools have watertight fittings. Stone and wood architecture made accent lighting a pleasure to design. It enhances the beauty of this facility and its many features. As this was an IPD, we used the old transformer from the previous building to generate power for the building’s construction to reduce electrical construction costs. We were glad to be the electrical contractor of choice on this project
